Helvetica - The Movie

Posted on Saturday, August 19, 2006 in Uncategorized

stillHelvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface (which will celebrate its 50th birthday in 2007) as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. Helvetica will begin screening at film festivals worldwide starting in early 2007. More about the film…

  1. Helvetica — have used it to typeset software manuals in the late 80s.
Met a guy in TO around 89 who designed a few typefonts. He had them patented. Very niche business then. Typesetting was a speciality and expensive to output on film that went to the printer who had a guy ” strip ” it then to a print plate.
Now it is a click on pull down menu.

I want to see this film.
